the labor of it all...

Howdy furry friends and pinkies!
Hope you all are kicking back with some cold beverages and savoring the knowledge that you have an extra day over this weekend to relax and put around the house :)
From my vantage point, see below, my pinkies are doing just that.

IMAG1268

Let's recap the month of August, shall we?
My dearest pinkies left me in the lap of luxury (a.k.a. with the most wonderful neighbor ever in the whole world, who just might love me as much as mum and dad) and departed for some giant floating vessel that cruises the open seas. Imagine that!

A floating buffet, open 24 hrs and they leave me at home?!?!?!
The destination was Bermuda, and they apparently had a great time cavorting around the island and beaches without me. See for yourself!

Dad even won a jackpot, what did they bring back for their 4-legged roomate?!?! Nothing!!! It was all rum cake and rum for everyone else...zero for me. Typical.

THEN they returned to reality and hopped back in to the work groove...not so exciting from the way mum flops on the couch after a day at work. At least she plays frisbee with me for like 3.7 minutes before flopping, but anyway...(it's really hot outside and he gets overheated easily...and it's hot) so they also finished the guest bathroom upgrades and it does look pretty fancy in there. I'll let mum explain:
Well, all over the diy home decor blogs people are framing their builder grade mirrors so they look more custom/finished...so that's what we did! We were wandering around home depot and saw a vinyl trim product that already had the espresso finish and was the ideal width so we bought some and went home and installed it!! It was really easy, I hired the hubs to measure and make all the cuts and then we liquid nailed the pieces to the mirror. Easy peasy.

IMAG1170

However, the mirror looked so good that it made the existing oak cabinets look dated and sad...so back to the blogosphere I went and there was a tutorial on how to stain your cabinets without the hassle with some stuff called minwax polyshades...like stain, but more like paint. See below for the final results...turned out pretty good. Now I have to do the master bath...maybe in September!

IMAG1271

Blurry, but I supervised mum from the tub. Whenever home improvement is taking place I must be present for quality control purposes.
IMAG1187

That's enough mum, you are boring them to death...so now it's September and all over the interwebs people are commenting on how "fall is in the air", WELL that is not the case here!! It's 103* here today people, fall is nowhere to be found!! It better come soon, mum is just itching to break out her scarf collection!
That's all for now faithful readers, until next time.

Summer and July 4th

Just some shots of my beautiful self out in the backyard this summer...

  Untitled
A lot of the time I'm telling my pinkies to come inside where it's cool and aire-conditioned...it's just too hot out here!!

  Untitled
I like to inspect the random patches of grass that have survived this past drought.

Untitled

Mum, why are you hiding all the way over there??

Untitled

Sit? Stay, you say? Ok, fine. Here you go. A nice sleepy looking me, mouth breathing to boot! I look rather rugged don't you say?!!

Additional Note:
It is my official "Gotcha Day" on July 4th...thus I am 4years in the most wonderful family EVER!!! And since mum loves the celebration and pomp of the holiday, she declared that was my birthday too...so I'm either 6 or 7 (they never really knew how old I was when they rescued me). Here are my birthday picture out takes...
I call this one "wrangle the beast for a photo!" at least that's what I overheard mum say...it kinda turned into bitey play for a couple seconds.

IMAG1125\

This one is called "Threat from Above"...(mum: there was no threat, just us talking to him...he hates cameras and sitting still for pics.) At least we got a crisp pic of the the Aggie collar! Whoop!

IMAG1126

Here is the one that made it to facebook for my b-day...blurry but really captures my personality and the pinky's horrible bed making skills in the background!

IMAG1127

Take care and have a wonderful summer!

A Mish-Mash...

Hi there folks, Wally here to catch you up to what we've been up to...a little of this and a little of that apparently! IMAG0621

   IMAG0622
I've done some gardening supervising, the tomatoes are coming great, we've got a lot of green ones! Let's hope the bugs/birds don't rain on our parade and take our "harvest". The fig trees are going crazy, may do some fig jam making with the neighbor once they are ready! Yum!
look at the tomatoes now!!

That's my handsome snout hanging out by mum's ear...she likes my breath in her face. (Mum: i do NOT!)

The pinkies left me and went to Baltimore in May, this is the face dad gave Mum and the camera after he got a compliment on he awesome parking job (not pictured)...his face says "what did you expect?!" Mum gets this look a lot!

Downtown Baltimore from behind the Visionary Arts Museum...pretty!

They also went to Mount Vernon when they drove down to Virginia, it was pretty cool they tell me, lots of gardens, out buildings, and nice green lawns. They did happen to run into some locals with an airedale puppy in tow...his name was Gunner and Mum just had to take his picture and share a pic of me with the other dale owners. sheesh. Can't take her anywhere!!

  IMAG0874

...in one of the fabulous gardens.

  IMAG0971

And, in homage to my curly self, mum and dad took a pic of the "Presidential Pets" exhibit at the really, amazing and awesome Newseum. Of course one of our fine fore fathers had a pet airedale...we really are "presidential" looking, don't you think?!

IMAG1026

...just so you can compare...me looking fluffy and Laddie boy above...totally the same.

IMAG1036

I have still been supervising the pinkies in all things grilled. Dad is doing a great job with the lamb chops!

IMAG1044

At the beginning of June, mum's older sis stopped in for a visit on her birthday. I really like it when she visits, she scratches my ears all the right ways and loves to give me treats and belly rubs. Oh and mum ruins it by having her clean my ears too...not pleasant.

audra & brunch.

Another gratuitous shot of my pinkies...they are my favorites!

bath time...nap time

Sir Wally here, had my weekend romp at the dog park...came out a complete mess in great spirits. Mum promptly handed me off to to the "large mail man" and he washed me up good! Afterward, I felt like taking a snooze and mum busted out her ninja camera skills and caught me.
(he looked SOOOOO cute!!!)
enjoy my curliness.

dang, she got me...I give her the stare...

THEN she zoomed in on me...uber stare now...

Holy Moley It's April!

hello bloggy friends...all 3 of you!
since it is four months into the new year, mum has decided it's time to take down the Christmas themed header and put up a more spring-y looking one. February has been a good month to all of us, mum had her birthday and we all celebrated the presidents birthdays too! Who doesn't need a 3-day weekend to celebrate Washington and Lincoln?!?!
mum and HER mum and sister celebrated with a fancy schmancy afternoon high tea and also went to see some actor types at Wicked (which was very good! thanks sister!!)
IMAG0485

IMAG0487

IMAG0491

Mum and I went to the best doggie park in central Tx and after I got SUPER muddy and wet and full of miscelanious twigs and grass pieces she promptly sat me in the shower at home and washed my fuzzy magnificense clean! Such is the life during a heat wave in Febrary...80 degrees...really?!!

sometimes what mum thinks is hilarious is not really so...see my expression?!

IMAG0522

On the longest-bathroom-tile-renovation-ever front, it was completed before mum's birthday. It's a dream to shower in, I should know, it's where I bathe as well.
here i am supervising..
IMAG0433

but then the pinkies decided i was "in the way" and blocked me from the construction site!! the nerve.

IMAG0174

But they eventually finished and it looks really 'pawsome'. Mum even got a new curtain for it...on sale of course!

IMG_7248

IMG_7243

March was uneventful, besides the warm weather, me and the pinkies played outside a lot and generally had a low-key time. can't believe it's already April.
where does the time go??
I'll leave you with some shots of me on my new "bed" that I have taken over...at first the pinkies fought it with putting some objects of large size in the "bed" when they left the house, but then they gave up. I WON!!!

this face has zero remorse showing!!

perfect napping position and for gazing out to the back of the "estate".

Happy New Year!

Well friends, it's 9 days into 2012 and my pinkies have already started and nearly finished a home improvement project...much to my chagrin. In my experience, home improv. projects almost always lead to a lack of focus on what's really important...ME!

IMAG0187

It all started with some holiday time off, changed New Year's plans, and a brilliant idea by mum..."let's get rid of that nasty tile in our bathroom tub!" she says to her beloved handyman. What follows is 5 days of ripping out old tile and walls, roughing in new walls and water connections, some leaks, some cuts on the knuckle, LOTS of dust, a weird smell (that is still here), and generally lots of sweat on the part of the handy husband.

oh, and of course, my supervision over all construction. I'm very vocal on all drilling techniques, saws-all usage and shop vac procedure.

IMAG0175

IMAG0297

Mum spent the time as dad's "gopher" and general assistant...when she wasn't reading some new fangled thing she carries around called a kindle. (what can i say, when i start a book, i can't focus on anything else!)
She also graciously carted my curly snout around to the best dog park ever all weekend. We had unseasonably warm weather...almost 80* one day so I worked up quite the stink. I know my pinkies still love me, wet dog smell and all :)
Stay tuned for more tile updates...one day it'll be finished.
Best wishes for you and your pinkies in 2012!
